Do Texans identify more with Texas than America?

I was not born in Texas but live here. I think of myself as an American period. Don't know about the natives but I would think they are just as proud of where they were born as anyone else. The Gov comes off to me at least as bomastic idiot... The pledge of allegiance thing was decided in the Civil War as far as I'm concerned. Of course of NY wishes to leave I think that's fine.
