I have a guy problem? Helpp?

Basically we've been talking for a year and he's 18, I'm 17, we argue quite alot on Wednesday we argued and he said leave me alone for abit if you wanna talk, I'm like fine:( when should I get in contact? And when I do what kinda text could I send just saying we should stop arguing and trust each other more? Were in a weird kinda relationship, it's long distance:( he says he cares about me abit, so do I, he's very protective over me and doesn't like other guys chatting to me, were both jealous and im more the clingy one that needs to stop ! I really don't want him to have another girl, I'm going through a tough time with this guy and I wanna make things better between us, thanks xx
