Help with an essay for The Great Gatsby?

I need help with an essay that I have to write. It's very open-ended; I can basically come up with my own topic. I was thinking of maybe something regarding the billboard of Dr. Ecklberg and the valley of ashes and talking about what Fitzgerald is trying to say about the new modernist point of view. Or maybe something about the American Dream. I really don't know. Help please!
