I know he likes me but how do I get him to know I likes him? How to get past the awkwardness?

I am a freshman btw and so is this guy. So there's this guy ( ill call him matt) who all of my friends say likes me . Even his best friend told my best friend that he likes me. always sits by me and he always gets really close to me. I am always the first person he talks to in the morning and the last person he talk to before we go home. So yeah, he likes me and I definitely like him. I just feel like he doesn't act like himself when he's around me and I hate that because I like him - not the person he turns into when he's around me. Anyways, how should I let him know that I like him without being completely straightforward and how to get past the awkwardness?
